Carlisle Winery and Vineyards is one of the biggest names in Sonoma wine and is often discussed as one of the next cult wines to come out of California. Of course becoming a cult wine takes years of incredible critics scores, so you know you’re going to get an incredible bottle of wine from Carlisle.
That high quality and small production has long made Carlisle a great wine gift choice with the entire production split between Zinfandel and Syrah.
Originally a hobby of Mike Officer, the winery has now grown to produce around three thousand to five thousand cases of wine each and every year, often split equally between the two varietals. All estate owned fruit is used and there is often a waiting list for their own internal wine club.
If you’re a fan of stereotypical California wines, big fruit and densely packed flavors these are perfect wines for you. Carlisle has gained a large amount of both critical and consumer success with the style and has long offered some of the best value fine Zinfandel in the world. I will also mention that it is an incredible tasting experience if you’re able to visit the site itself. They often have library wines open for you to taste, which truly makes for a memorable experience.
